Common peroneal nerve splits into the deep and superficial peroneal branches.
Tibialis anterior – deep peroneal nerve
Peroneus longus muscle – superficial peroneal nerve
Signs of acute denervation = fibrillations and positive waves
– takes 7-10 days to develop after injury
Signs of chronic denervation = high amplitude, increased duration, and polyphasic MUAPs
– takes 3 months to develop after injury
