The patient in this question is presenting with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). The typical pentad of symptoms associated with TTP includes fever, encephalopathy, anemia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, and renal failure. Cyclosporine, quinine, ticlopidine, and clopidogrel are among the few medications most often associated with TTP. Clopidogrel-associated TTP will most often present within 2 weeks of drug initiation.
