Inherited leukodystrophies invariable lead to white matter demyelination but pattern vary with each syndrome 

 

X-linked Adrenoleukodystrophy
– posterior predominant demyelination 

Alexander’s disease 
– frontal predominant demyelination 

Canavan disease 
– diffuse demyelination including the U-fibers

Metachromatic leukodystrophy and Krabbe disease 
– demyelination that spares U-fibers
