Concurrent myopathy (elevated CK, low amplitude AP and early recruitment on EMG) and neuropathy (axonal neuropathy on EMG/NCS) can be due to prolonged exposure to:
– colchicine
– amiodarone
– chloroquine
– hydroxychloroquine
Steroid-associated myopathy presents with proximal weakness, normal CK
Statin-associated myopathy causes weakness and elevated CK, but EMG will typically show muscle membrane irritability and myotonic discharges without an axonal neuropathy
