Adie’s pupil-> ipsilateral damage to the ciliary ganglion or axons
pupil constriction
– efferent pathway: cholinergic parasympathetic fibers from cell bodies in the EW nucleus which then travel along CN3 and synapse in the ciliary ganglion, and then proceed along the short ciliary nerves
– ACH activates muscarinic receptors on the ciliary body (lens accomodation) and pupillary sphincter (pupil constriction).
