During H-reflex studies, submaximal stimulation is applied so that only sensory nerves are stimulated. As the stimulation intensities become maximal, the H-reflex waveform disappears. All other motor unit and sensory studies, including F-waves and repetitive stimulation, are performed with supramaximal stimulations.
